Aftersome testing, the issue is definitely specific to cellular battery drain. When I disable cellular and use the gps, battery drain is within the normal range. When the watch is operating on cellular+gps, there is excessive battery drain. For now, I am disabling cellular during my runs and hoping Apple fixes this issue in the next update.

Mine is at exactly 80% and my warranty elapses on October 5. I'm trying hard not to be a conspiracy theorist.
Appletested watchOS 6 alongside iOS 13 and all the other betas through the summer, but with far fewer people testing Apple Watch beta software it's possible bugs crept through. And if the problem is watchOS 6 then there's hope that a new update will rectify all of these battery issues. We've heard some reports that watchOS 6.1 beta 1
Wellaccording to Apple genius team that waiting for IOS 17.0.1 will fix my 13 ProMax. Unbelievable battery usage with Mail app. Along with similar issues with watch OS 10. BTW they are unable to run diagnostics on Apple Watch in IOS17. That seems unbelievable. And they are unable to roll back to 16.9.x at the store. I have to do it myself
